TMC skills for Guitar and Music Theory!

An email from a 17 year old in Norway

I got the Mastery Club from a friend of mine for Christmas. When I got the book I was very excited to read it. When I was finished with the book I thought to myself that it was a book that I really enjoyed and a book that I never have read before. The book is both thought provoking and inspiring. I feel like this is a book that I'm going to read several times and have as my guide book through life. The book has given me inspiration to achieve big and small things in my life.

After finishing the book I started to do some of the things that stood in the book. I started to think about things that made me happy and things I want to achieve in a period of time. I had an exam in guitar that I really didn't look forward to have to do and was very nervous for how I would do in the subject. I thought of the book and started visualizing and thinking positive. I tried to imagine how well I was going to play on my guitar. The exam in guitar went very well and I was satisfied with my performance. I wasn't nervous at all as I would have been if I hadn't visualized it.

I have learned that you can surprise yourself. I have a subject in school called music theory. I am not very good in that subject and I was failing in the subject. I was not looking forward to have oral presentation. After reading The Mastery Club my attitude about music theory got a lot better. I don't really like the subject but the book gave me a little push to think more positive about the subject. I thought to myself that I could do this if I wanted to do it.

So I prepared myself for weeks in music theory. The day I was going to have oral presentation I felt that I was prepared. After having oral presentation I felt very proud of myself for doing it. I got my grade the same day and I was so happy when my teacher said that I had done very well and that he had heard that I had study a lot. He gave me the grade four. It is a very good grade in the Norwegian school system. We have grades from 1-6 where 6- is the best and 1- is the worst. So I was very happy for my grade. It does pay off to study hard to get good grades.

I have thought that this school year has been a little bit difficult but my friends and family has been there for me and the book has also been a big help through this. The book has given me straight and courage to believe that I can do anything I want if I truly believe and know that I can achieve it. Not by magic but by thinking, visualizing and believing it.
